Sewer & Drain Division

The Sewer and Drain Division provides emergency and routine maintenance to the sewer collection system and the drainage system. A permit is required for all sewer disconnection and connections to the Town’s sewer system. An excavation permit is required for any excavation within the Town’s Right-of-Way. See our Applications and Permits page for more information.

Town Drainage

Our stormwater systems play an important part in draining our roadways and preventing flooding. Many of these drains discharge to wetlands, creeks, and basins designed to help improve water quality and prevent flooding. It is important that these drains, pipes, basins and natural waters do not become clogged with debris and objects that are not disposed of properly.

The Stormwater Video (this may take a while to load as it is approximately 30 minutes long) describes stormwater runoff and how it can pollute our waters and how we can make simple changes to reduce this problem. Also, check out our Stormwater Page which can be found at the bottom of this page.

Town Sewers

Our sewer systems transport sewage from our homes and businesses to either the Town’s Waste Water Treatment Facility (WWTF) or a septic system. It is important for everyone to know what you should flush and what you shouldn’t. Flushing or pouring materials down the toilet or down sink can cause damage to your system and to the Towns. Take a minute to read through the information below and ask yourself: Do you want a back up of sewer in your home or business?

Having to unblock sewer lines, clean up spills and backups and potentially repairing leach fields can be costly.  You can help lower these costs by only flushing human waste and toilet paper!
